Wind circulation around synoptic scale (large scale) high and low pressure systems
The net result is that around synoptic scale pressure systems the CF cause the wind to circulate around the pressure systems and do not blow directly from the center of the high to the center of the low pressure as you initially might think. Thus the winds blow basically parallel to isobars with Clockwise circulation around a High Pressure system Counterclockwise circulation around a Low Pressure system. Surface friction modifies this relationship a little bit so the winds tend cross isobars form high to low at an angle of degrees form parallel. This is important because friction helps to cause low level convergence and upward motion at the center of lows and low level divergence and downward motion at the center of highs. To be sure there are other factors that are more important in causing upward or downward motion than friction, but it is an important factor. 2/22/2019

Buys Ballot's law" In the Northern Hemisphere, if you stand with your back to the wind, low pressure will be to your left. Near the surface the frictional effect deflects the wind degrees into low pressure side. Must modify Buys Ballot's law near surface to account for this. Just rotate degrees to the right of the wind at your back. 2/22/2019
