Enrollment Options Summer 2013 Option A Student responsible for all tuition & required course materials Summer tuition = $836/credit hour PSCL 101 – 3 credit hours = $2508 Option B For year-round high schools ONLY State of Ohio responsible for all tuition & required course materials

Application Materials Student Application Student Application To be completed by student Student must also submit a one-page, typed, doubled- spaced personal statement If applicable, students must forward copies of all official college/university transcripts Parent must sign the application Materials for summer 2013 and 2013-2014 academic year must be received by April 15

Application Materials Guidance Counselor Form Guidance Counselor Form To be completed by the guidance counselor A typed, descriptive, written assessment of the applicant's preparation, motivation, independence, maturity, and readiness to undertake college course work must be submitted An official high school transcript, all standardized test results, and the Guidance Counselor Form must be submitted by April 15Guidance Counselor Form

Application Materials Course Selection Form Course Selection Form To be completed by student and guidance counselor and submitted by the guidance counselor Visit the Pre-College Scholars Program website to view course information prior to completing the formwebsite This schedule is a draft that will be used to get a sense of interests in the Pre-College Scholars Program. Enrollment in the courses selected is not guaranteed.

Course Enrollment Options Ordinarily students are permitted to take one or two courses per term See the Pre-College Scholars Program website for a list of approved subjectsPre-College Scholars Program website Pre-College Scholars are permitted to register for open and approved courses after CWRU undergraduates have registered Pre-College Scholars must satisfy all course prerequisitescourse prerequisites Pre-College Scholars are not permitted to contact individual faculty about course enrollment unless authorized by the Office of Undergraduate Studies

CWRU Course Offerings & Your High School Schedule Most courses are three- or four-credit hours Courses most commonly meet three days a week for 50 minutes or two days a week for 75 minutesCourses CWRU offers extremely few evening courses and no weekend courses CWRU does not offer on-line courses Pre-College Scholars are expected to attend ALL course meetings

Profile of Admitted Students Enrolled in the most academically rigorous curriculum offered by their high schools Ordinarily ranked in the top 5-10% of their class Strong test scores Compelling personal statement Excellent letters of recommendation that speak to the students ability to engage in an academically rigorous college environment Preference is given to seniors (then juniors…) who have exhausted course options at their high schools

Notification of Decision Notification Summer 2013 – May 1 Academic Year 2013-2014 – June 1 Email & Mail to student and guidance counselor Acceptance Must accept offer by date indicated and sign-up for Orientation Students from approved non-public schools must apply for funding

Orientation & Course Registration Orientation Mandatory Overview of the program will be provided Students will work to refine their course selections Course Registration Summer – late May Fall – week prior to the beginning of classes Spring – mid-December

Parking Students are responsible for all parking costs for both Option A and Option B Parking may be purchased through Access Services after course registration in May (Summer), August (Fall), and/or December (Spring) Parking maps and parking rates are available on the Parking webpagemapsratesParking webpage

Books There are several options for acquiring textbooks: Students may visit the Office of Undergraduate Studies to borrow books from the Pre-College Scholars Library. Pre-College Scholars may purchase textbooks from the University bookstore. Students enrolled under Option B will be reimbursed at the end of the semester, provided books are returned in good condition. Pre-College Scholars enrolled under Option B may request that books be purchased on their behalf.
