1. Criminal Causation Research
Part I (INDEPENDENT): Using any available local news resources, locate and summarize four articles that demonstrate the presence of our discussed “factors of criminal causation” in our community. Articles should reference incidents which occurred within the last year. Specifically, you should find articles involving each of the following factors: firearms, alcohol, illegal narcotics, gangs, or mental illness. For each article, after you provide a brief summary (2-3 sentences) and identify how the element of criminal causation in question contributed to this criminal act. You do not have to provide formal citations, but each summary should be accompanied by a link to the article reviewed.
Part II (WITH YOUR GROUP): Based on your assigned approach to addressing the rising drug crisis in Southland, prepare/create a neat, organized slideshow (between 4 and 6 slides) in order to inform the council about the proposal you research. You should utilize online resources to find further research that supports your choice (a minimum of two pieces of outside evidence), and clearly communicate the suggested solution, as well as where it has been implemented before. You will include at least two appropriate illustrations, charts, documents, etc… Finally, your must include a statement regarding your final conclusion on the method’s success.

Minimum of two pieces of outside evidence (i.e. quotes, statistics, etc…)
Minimum of two related visual elements (images, charts, etc…)

Printed in a two-per-page slide format for submission.
