Ranti Junus - Michigan State University Libraries - 2004 How GRL is related to Courses in ANGEL GRL content is not created inside a course Content Sharing Multiple courses or course sections can access the same resources Content Reusing Resources will stay in GRL for future use
5
Ranti Junus - Michigan State University Libraries - 2004 The Big Picture - before Multiple courses shared multiple common resources – resources have to be created for each of the courses Course ACourse BCourse C Common Resource 1 Common Resource 1 Common Resource 1 Common Resource 2 Common Resource 2 Common Resource 2
6
Ranti Junus - Michigan State University Libraries - 2004 The Big Picture - before Same resources have to be created/replicated for each course Updating the content of the resource means you have to go to each of the course and do the editing Sometimes ends up in inconsistency
7
Ranti Junus - Michigan State University Libraries - 2004 The Big Picture - after Multiple courses share multiple common resources Course ACourse BCourse C Common Resource 1 Common Resource 2
8
Ranti Junus - Michigan State University Libraries - 2004 The Big Picture - after Create common/master resource in GRL Each course add new content by linking to the master resource Updating/editing can be done simply in the master resource The changes will be automatically reflected in each of the courses
9
Ranti Junus - Michigan State University Libraries - 2004 Common Resource Examples Access to subscribed electronic journals/journal articles Newspaper articles Users Guide/Help Documentation Basically, anything that is shared among several courses or course sections

Ranti Junus - Michigan State University Libraries - 2004 Where are we now Still in the early stages. We still need to define the organization/information structure Start building the content based on the information already on Libraries web site We need brave souls to experiment with GRL for their course especially with the course e-reserve!
