Beatrix Potter Mary Anning
English author, illustrator, mycologist & conservationist. Potter was educated by governesses - her parents wanted her to be a housekeeper. As the result of her drawings of fungi, she was respected throughout England as an expert mycologist. British fossil collector, dealer and paleontologist. Her education was extremely limited - she learned to read and write at Sunday School. Her discoveries included the first ichthyosaur skeleton, the first two plesiosaur skeletons ever found, and fish fossils.
