Motion – a change in the position of an object Distance – how far an object travels as it moves from one location to another Displacement – how far an object is from some earlier position, regardless of the path it took Force – a push or a pull between two objects

Inertia – the tendency objects have to maintain their state of motion Gravity – the force between two objects with mass Friction – the pulling force that works against an object’s motion to slow it or prevent it from moving Normal force – pushing interaction between two objects touching, always acts perpendicular to supporting surface

The difference between mass and weight
Weight is a force – your weight is the force you are applying to the surface of the earth Mass is how much matter is in an object – the more mass an object has, the more its gravitational force Acceleration due to gravity – on Earth is 9.8 m/s2

Newton’s First Law An object in motion, will stay in motion, and an object at rest will stay at rest, unless acted on by an unbalanced force

Newton’s Second Law The amount of acceleration depends on the mass of the object and the net force acting on the object F = ma

If no net force acts on an object, it will not accelerate. If a net force acts on an object, it will accelerate The direction of the acceleration will always be in the direction of the net force …………………..
