4 Classroom Policies Students should arrive prepared and ready to work
All members of our classroom will follow Alice Smith Cares Expectations Students may always have additional assignment time for excused absences Students will practice listening and speaking skills using accountable talk practices 2/22/2019

5 Class Website mrsstonehomeroom.com
Students will use the website, Edmodo and Padlet with parental permission Hard copies of assignments will also be available Information, reading logs and policies can be found on the website 2/22/2019

6 Project Based Learning
Based on research that shows students who are engaged, involved and applying knowledge are more likely to remember and understand the material Allows children to research, analyze and ask questions about their learning Students apply their knowledge to create a product that demonstrates understanding of the subject and material 2/22/2019

7 Grading Washoe County uses infinite campus and parents can access this via the parent portal Special subjects, art and PE are graded based on participation, effort and best work Our classroom grading scale is: 40% tests and quizzes 30% classwork 30% projects 2/22/2019

8 Homework Reading logs are due every three weeks and are based on the depth and complexity icons Math is sent home weekly and students will complete the assignment as well as a written explanation Work that remains uncompleted in class will be sent home for completion Homework is a part of the student learner responsibility grade Homework – 15% Citizenship - 85% 2/22/2019

9 Summary Teacher and students must come prepared to school every day
All members of our community must show respect and a willingness to listen Students will learn to cooperate and collaborate using 21st century skills. Assessments will be formative and summative and combine various aspects of student learning Grades will be based on all of the various assessments and student participation 2/22/2019

10 Parent Conferences Sign ups and reminders will come home 3 weeks prior to conferences Student work will be shared and any concerns/questions can be addressed Please or call if you have concerns prior to parent conferences 2/22/2019
