2 Self-Assessment checklist
Whilst there is no obligation to, this school completed the self-assessment at the start of the SGQM process (green highlights) and then re-assessed where they thought they were at the end of the process (yellow highlights). Self-Assessment checklist Completed example

3 SGQM framework sample for Section A1
Departments will need to complete the SGQM framework with information on how they meet each of the key indicators. The framework is divided into 4 major sections, A - D; the key indicators for Section A1 are shown below. SGQM framework sample for Section A1

4 Completed SGQM framework samples for Section A1 (a)
These three departments have written a few sentences for key indicator A1 (a) in order to provide some context. Whilst the first two schools have just written a statement for this part, the third school has chosen to include some evidence to support this in their portfolio. 5 Guidance for completion of Section A1: Pupils reach high standards of attainment in Geography
High standards of attainment can be evidenced through data, but also by the work that pupils produce. Careful selection is needed (as with all sections of the portfolio) The term ‘high standards’ begs the question ‘how high’, so ensure that you are comparing with school, or county-based data, and aim to identify those areas where the department is doing particularly well. This is not to say that you are ‘hiding’ areas of weakness – the framework and audit of the department should have helped you identify those. These can also form part of your development planning, and become a positive aspect of the department: you are working to support particular groups of students, or develop particular skills which have been identified. The moderating team will not want to wade through pages of data, although some needs to be included which reflects the work that has been done in the Geography department. This may involve targeting certain groups, or in A1e) show an improvement even though the current performance is still not as impressive as it might be. This is to ensure that departments realise that the process of applying for the Quality Mark is part of a journey, and is not necessarily the final destination. Data can obviously be presented in different ways. The presentation of data for the portfolio varies from XLS spreadsheets without any sort of commentary to more annotated tables.
