New Stone Age AKA the Neolithic Age
Started about 8000BCE and ended about 3000 BCE Discovered how to plant seeds to grow own wheat, then other crops= domesticating plants/agriculture Began to live in one place and build permanent shelters

New Stone Age Ppl still hunted animals
Ppl still picked fruits, berries, and nuts Domestication of plants and animals=stable food supply, even a surplus (=extra amount that you don’t need) Ppl started to specialize (learn a certain skill) - different jobs became the norm While some people grew crops, others built houses and made tools More food=more people=need to keep having to grow more and more food Ppl were building better shelters, better tools, better clothing

New Stone Age Ppl learned to cooperate to do a task more quickly and efficiently Having enough food for everyone and a growing population let ppl: have the ability to protect their cities &defend themselves Have time make themselves, and their surroundings, more beautiful by decorating their pottery & baskets, making shiny jewelry & mirrors. House builders added special rooms to honor the gods and goddesses they believed in.
