Developed a membership of 19 organizations Full members – can be on the coalition to and direct operations (£ 10,000 per year) Associate members – can be on the advisory council to the coalition (£ 2,000 per year) Allied organization – participate with coalition on specific goals and activities Allied members – participate with coalition on specific goals and activities Sponsor – pay to get work done Began to operate on four levels Members operate independently towards shared goals Develop core set of common goals Fund and execute projects Raise public awareness 22 April 2004

1. Develop long-term program and plans 2. Disseminating coalition information 3. Educate stakeholders 4. Lobby government for money 5. Coordinate UK preservation efforts 6. Develop services, technology and standards 7. Forge national and international strategic alliances 8. Attract funding to meet all goals 22 April 2004

They appear to be alive and perhaps well. Current website: Last updated: 1 April 2004 Active PR organization Monthly Events National newspapers, TV and radio, Web, international press, specialty press Handbook (unable to read on-line, verdict still out on its utility) Offer prizes for efforts dealing with preservation 22 April 2004

7 Impression Base paper read like so many others: boring (i.e., we are going to get together and solve the problem). Website makes this look like an active organization. The outfit seems to recognize that there is a serious problem (digital preservation) and is attacking it in a business-like manner. 22 April 2004
