3. Recommended Department-Level Folder Structure

Top-level folder for a given department within your organization
Video Staging
Contains videos ready to be moved to Public, the department parent folder, or the all company folder. Only department admins or company admins can make these moves.
Guest Folder
All department employees have Creator access to this folder. It can also be used to record
presentations from guest speakers.
Archived Videos
Contains recordings that department or company admins consider old.
[Individual Name]
Each employee in the department has an individual folder where they can post videos,
create subfolders, and can move their recordings to the Video Staging folder.
[Area of Responsibility]
Each department may have sub-folders dedicated to each major area of responsibility.
For example, the Sales Department may have a sub-folder for North American East Coast Sales.

4. Best Practices Keep it simple. Commit to consistency.
Consider an “Archive” folder under each top- and department-level folder.
If using an LMS, folder structure is created.
You can leverage AD to more easily assign folder permissions.
Example: If you are in marketing, you can give folder access to the “marketing” group

5. Tips to Consider
There is no limit to the number of subfolders you can create Creators can’t create subfolders by default (change in system settings) Subfolders inherit permissions of parent folder starting in Panopto Support documentation on folders: Bulk move and copy of videos can be used if you decide to change their location
