2 SAFETY IDEOLOGY As part of the Agency’s Mission Statement, Safety is a responsibility for all employees Operations Safety defines the parameters for Safety for the agency Operations Safety Responsible for Safety for the Agency Employees/Contractors Customers Serve as the Subject Matter Expert to provide our employees, contractors, and patrons a sound resource for safety information.

Drive and Commitment Top Down Approach President/Executive Director “Accountable Executive” Safety is a Direct Report To the CEO Operations Safety defines the parameters for Safety (SSPP) “System Safety Program Plan” Employee Involvement Ownership of Safety by Everyone Supervisors enforce Included as an objective for each Employee’s Annual Performance Appraisal, per the Board

5 DART OPERATIONS SAFETY
Requirements: Provide Safety Guidance for Employees Safety Management System Platform (SMS) Follow OSHA Guidelines in the workplace BBP, Hazcom, Heat Stress, PPE Metrics-centered data reporting and root cause analysis processes All Safety Specialist and Safety Management possess Safety Certifications All requirements will be increased, enhanced and fine-tuned with the implementation of FTA’s SMS (Safety Management System)

6 FTA AUTHORITY FTA has authority to:
Conduct inspections, audits, examinations investigations and testing of equipment facilities rolling stock and the operations of a public transit system Set procedures for the FTA to take appropriate enforcement action, including directing the use or withholding of Federal funds and issue directives and advisories for compliance

7 DART AUTHORITY SYSTEM SAFETY PROGRAM PLAN
DART’S System Safety Program Plan (SSPP) “The Safety Bible” Provides all necessary tools and equipment required to maintain a safe working environment in compliance with the SSPP and Safe Work Practices Procedures Each department and division is directed and empowered to administer this plan All managers are responsible for its implementation All Employees are responsible to comply

Partner with other Departments for a single focus: Training Police/Security Environmental Operations Maintenance Growth & Regional Development

10 Prior to Revenue Service (GRP)
Partnership Starts at Conception: 3 Components to a Strong Safety Program Construction Safety First component to developing a Operations Safety Program Work In conjunction to ensure the Safety is not jeopardized once systems are designed, built and in revenue service System Safety Certification Once constructed joint test and evaluations of the system prior to revenue service Operations Safety Develops Safety program based on the first two components
