On the site (the name PURLnet was one of our old unsuccessful attempts at getting a working name), select "Membership Information" and then download the "Participants Agreement" and contact for application instructions. As a signed participant you will get access to the members only part of the site (which includes the latest ZigBee specification) and access to the face-face meetings. Best regards, Phil. 12 Liaison Observation #1 – 802.15 WG Projects…promo?
July 2001 doc.: IEEE /291r0 March 2001 Liaison Observation #1 – WG Projects…promo? Wireless 802 WGs is a single MAC Sublayer/WG. is a single MAC Sublayer/WG. …but has 3 MAC Sublayers/WGs. IEEE 802 Functional Requirements Document (FRD), Draft 6.8 Revised: July 10, 1991 4.2 Compatibility IEEE 802 defines a family of standards. All standards shall be in conformance with IEEE Architecture, Management and Interworking. All LLC and MAC standards shall be compatible with ISO 10039[20], MAC Service Definition1, at the LLC/MAC boundary. Within the LLC Working Group there shall be one LLC standard, including one or more LLC protocols with a common LLC/MAC interface. Within a MAC Working Group there shall be one MAC standard and one or more Physical Layer standards with a common MAC/Physical layer interface. Each standard in the IEEE 802 family of standards shall include a definition of managed objects which are compatible with OSI systems management standards. 1. Note: This requirement is subject to final resolution of corrections and revision to current ISO 10039, currently inconsistent with ISO 8802 series standards. = Draft in process or complete = Draft not defined e.g., CFP, etc. Ian Gifford, Consultant Ian Gifford, Consultant

14 Liaison Observation #1 – 802.15 WG Projects…promo?
March 2001 Liaison Observation #1 – WG Projects…promo? Promotion of the various Projects as well as the various PHY Layers, MAC Sublayers, and in the case of TG4 the LLC is very complex. The WG needs to have a unified story and each Project needs to have its own story. These promotional stories should be complementary. Reviewing lessons learned from related WGs is highly suggested e.g., 802.3, , etc. and SDOs e.g. ETSI BRAN, etc. Ian Gifford, Consultant

15 Liaison Observation #2 – 802.15.4 LLC?
July 2001 doc.: IEEE /291r0 March 2001 Liaison Observation #2 – LLC? CFP review… In reviewing –01/272r3, it appears this contribution is promoting the PURL LLC as LLC BUT you need to sign ZigBee agreement to access the ZigBee Spec. which includes PURL LLC a.k.a LLC. Also I believe this LLC is out of scope for the PAR? PHY/MAC only. Ian Gifford, Consultant Ian Gifford, Consultant

16 Liaison Observation #2 – 802.15.4 LLC?
July 2001 doc.: IEEE /291r0 March 2001 Liaison Observation #2 – LLC? “…-01/272r3 slide 27 & 28, suggests the upper layers are being invented by an 802 group. There is the possibility that could adopt these alternate topological LLC methodologies, but must define it, not can SUGGEST it, but it is not for them to decide. It is totally incorrect and unacceptable for an 802 WG to violate the fundamental premises of LMSC. Any and all 802 stack components must use the common LLC.
