3 The pitch What is the story of your music video?
How are you going to make your video? What music are you going to have? What problems do you think you will encounter? What feel do you want your music video to have?

4 What does it mean? What do you need to do for your project?
Pre-production What does it mean? What do you need to do for your project?

5 You will be able to: Identify the importance of pre-production
Identify job roles within pre-production Demonstrate an understanding of pre-production paperwork Complete pre-production paperwork for your production

6 Pre-production This is the first phase of production and the most important. Pre-production helps you and the crew to know exactly what you want. It works as a guide so you can achieve exactly what you want. “I know what I want and I don’t need it” YES YOU DO! This process is the most critical and includes an array of planning documents. Before we move onto the planning documents, I would like you to do the following task.

7 Task – pre-production I would like you to research and investigate the process of pre-production. Find out the following: What does pre-production mean? Why is it important? What is completed during pre-production? What job roles are needed during this process? With the information you have gathered, I would like you to create a information poster. BE CREATIVE WITH IT!

8 SHOOTING SCRIPT This is here to help you complete your production process. The shooting script acts as a guide for you This is not a screenplay and not a full script. In the industry this is created from the screenplay and gives the crew a quick action plan The shooting script gives you three things, a shot order, what the camera is doing and the location. Every time the location, or the camera changes, you need to put in a new scene.

9 Shooting script Media Shooting Script Name: Group: Project: Shot No.
Description of Shot: Location: In this box you need to give the location of where you are going to film, this needs to be precise. In this box you need to describe what visually happens in the shot and what the camera is doing. You need to include camera terminology. Wide shot, close up, etc. In this box you need to give the shot a number. So, number 1, 2, 3 etc YOU CAN DOWNLOAD THE SHOOTING SCRIPT HERE

10 The storyboard Let’s have a look at how a story board is used and what do you need to do.

11 storyboard SHOT NUMBER SHOT TYPE DIALOGUE ACTION In this box, you need to put a visual representation of what you want to see. You can hand draw it, or use images from the internet. If there are lyrics, what does it say at this point. What is the action from your shooting script?

12 Location recce By knowing more about your location, this will help when it comes to filming there. It is there for you to identify issues and how you could solve them. It is always good practice to visit the site before filming and gather as much information as you can.

17 REFLECTIVE WRITING AND WHY IT IS IMPORTANT
SELF REFECTION REFLECTIVE WRITING AND WHY IT IS IMPORTANT

18 What is self reflection?
Self reflection is like looking into a mirror and describing what you see. It is a way of assessing yourself, your ways of working and how you study. To put it simply ‘reflection’ means to think about something.

19 Why is self reflection important?
Reflecting helps you to develop your skills and review their effectiveness, rather than just carry on doing things as you have always done them. It is about questioning, in a positive way, what you do and why you do it and then deciding whether there is a better, or more efficient, way of doing it in the future. In any role, whether at home or at work, reflection is an important part of learning. You wouldn’t use a recipe a second time around if the dish didn’t work the first time would you? You would either adjust the recipe or find a new and, hopefully, better one. When we learn we can become stuck in a routine that may not be working effectively. Thinking about your own skills can help you identify changes you might need to make.

20 THE REFLECTIVE PROCESS
At the end of each day, you need to write a blog that reflects your day. What happened?  When and where did the situation occur?  Any other thoughts you have about the situation? How did you behave?  What thoughts did you have?  How did it make you feel?  Were there other factors that influenced the situation?  What have you learned from the experience? How did the experience match with your preconceived ideas, i.e. was the outcome expected or unexpected?  How does it relate to any formal theories that you know?  What behaviors do you think might have changed the outcome? Is there anything you could do or say now to change the outcome?  What action(s) can you take to change similar reactions in the future?  What behaviors might you try out?

21 HOW TO LAYOUT YOUR BLOG? What were your goals for today?
Did you complete your goals? How do you feel having completed these goals? What have you learnt from the experience? Was the outcome what you were expecting? What were the strengths of today? What were the weaknesses of today? How could you improve on how you approached your goals? What do you need to do next? Are there other creatives who have had similar results to what you have discovered.

22 What you need to complete?
production What you need to complete?

23 What is production? Production is where you gather all the materials you need to complete your project. You will need to film the sections you need. Make sure that everything you need to film is planned and you are ready to go. Overcome any problems you encounter to meet the deadline

24 Before the cameras roll
I would like you to research and investigate the process of production. Find out the following: What does production mean? Why is it important? What is completed during production? What job roles are needed during this process? With the information you have gathered, I would like you to create a information poster. The poster is a summary of the information you have found. BE CREATIVE WITH IT!

25 During production you need to:
Keep a daily log of what you have been doing during production. You need to show what you have planned How you set out to achieve your plan What did you do to complete your plan? Did you complete your plan? What do you need to do next? Please include photos of you during production. You need to show that production happened over a period of three weeks.

26 How can you do a production log
You can do this as: a series of blogs A powerpoint A behind the scenes video A daily Vlog
