2 Quick Review Key Concept 1: Mass is a numerical value that represents the number of particles in a sample. Units ? Key Concept 2: Volume is a numerical value that represent the 3 dimensional space that particle take up.

3 Quick Review Key Concept 3: Density expresses the proportional relationship between mass and volume of the substance. Density is the mass (g) per unit volume. Be careful with the word “per”

11 What is a proportion Key Concept 5: A proportion is a name we give to a statement that two ratios are equal. It can be written in two ways: two equal fractions, or, using a colon, a:b = c:d

If a question is asking to solve for density it is asking for a proportion of mass that equal to 1 unit of volume. Remember- Density expresses the proportional relationship between mass and volume of the substance.
