Notes: Introduction to 5 More Organ Systems
Directions: You will work with your lab group to label 6 more body systems. Write the names of these body systems on the correct picture. Nervous Reproductive - Male Reproductive - Female Digestive Urinary Endocrine

1. The Nervous System Anatomy (Structures) : Brain, spinal cord, nerves. Physiology (Function): Recognizes and coordinates the body’s response to changes in its internal and external environments.

2. The Digestive System Anatomy (Structures): Mouth, pharynx, esophagus, stomach, small and large intestines, rectum. Physiology (Function): Breaks down and absorbs nutrients. Helps remove waste from body.

3. The Urinary System Anatomy (Structures): Kidneys, ureters, urinary bladder, urethra. Physiology (Function): Eliminates waste products from the body.

4. The Endocrine System Anatomy (Structures): Hypothalamus, pituitary, thyroid, parathyroid, adrenals, pancreas, ovaries (in females), testes (in males). Physiology (Function): Controls growth, development and metabolism.

5. The Reproductive System Female
Anatomy Structures: ovaries, Fallopian tubes, uterus, vagina. Physiology (Function): Produces reproductive cells, nurtures and protects developing embryo.

Anatomy (Structures): Testes, epididymis, vas deferens, urethra, and penis Physiology (Function): Produces reproductive cells.
