First Level Decomposers
Dead organic materials are first eaten by organisms like molds and bacteria These are known as consumers Ex.: Earthworms, beetle mites, flies, sow bugs also consume waste directly

Second Level Decomposers
Eat first level consumers Ex.: springtails, mold mites, protozoa

Third Level Decomposers
Flesh-eaters or predators Eat 1st and 2nd level consumers Ex.: centipedes, rove beetles, ants, predatory mites
