About 500,000 Native Americans lived in this area Hunted many different animals Those along the seashore fished and gathered shellfish

Algonquian Tribes Lived across the mid-western and northeastern part of the United States Hunted and Fished Mohegan, Pequot, Narragansett, Wampanoag, Massachuset, Micmac, Ojibwe, Chippewa, Lenape, Nanticoke

Moved to where food was plentiful in summer Lived in temporary homes in summer Lived in longhouses in winter
