What is a Public Health Emergency?
Any event that threatens the health, safety, or well-being of a large segment of the population. Bioterrorism or other terrorist attack Infectious disease outbreak Natural disaster

What Does the Medical Reserve Corps Do?
During a large-scale public health emergency, the MRC supplements existing EMS; extending its surge capacity with trained volunteers: Medical & Mental Health Professionals Public Health & Social Workers General Support Volunteers

How MRC Volunteers Help…
Train for disaster response Learn how to set-up and operate a Point-of-Dispensing (POD) Help deliver medical and mental health/social work services during emergency sheltering operations.

Why Does MRC Need More Volunteers?
Need 7,500 active responders to staff 30 Dallas County PODs for two shifts serving 2 million people.

MRC Training ● Basic training takes place at DCHHS Orientation
Fundamentals of Preparedness Specific POD role (selected from 10 modules) FEMA’s Incident Command Training ● Additional training is offered and recommended.

POD Exercise; delivering medical countermeasures to the community.
