1 Bell Work 1/14 How does free verse poetry allow for creativity? Explain your answer in 3-4 sentences. How does free verse allow you to hear words in a new way? To express feelings? To see objects in a new way? Explain your answer in sentences.

2 Group Activity 1/14 With the packets from last week, as a group, go over the questions for “Poetry” and “Poemcrazy.” I will come around and assign your groups 1-2 questions that you will share your answers with the class. You have 10 minutes.

3 In-Class Assignment 1/14 Utilize the following website to select a free verse poem to analyze. Poetryfoundation.org Once you have selected a poem, read it two-three times. Then you will complete an analysis. In your analysis you must: state the poet and title of the poem, discuss the poems theme, ideas, patterns, and more in a sentence paragraph. The instructions are on my google classroom. This assignment is due tonight at 11:59pm

Take out your black marker. Begin reading instructions for blackout poetry. You will select ONE page from the piles of recycled paper on your desks in order to complete the blackout poetry assignment.

9 Bell Work 1/18 Free write: In a narrative of 7-8 sentences talk about one of your childhood experiences that you listed in the bell work yesterday.
