Reflective Writing, The Six Traits of Writing, and Literary Devices Why am I learning it? To be able to properly and vividly express my thoughts and experiences on paper How will I know I learned? I will have written a personal reflective poem, using the six traits and literary devices.

On a sheet of paper, list 7 significant events/moments (good and/or bad) that have shaped your life. Go!

Individual Work: Draft Your Own Reflection Poem
Write a personal reflection poem. At least 10 lines. Can be a sonnet, ballad, free verse, etc. Must use at least 2 of the literary devices we’ve discussed. Highlight the lines in your poem of the literary devices and label it. Do not plagiarize. Submit before the bell rings.

Use the remainder of the class period to:
Work on your current vocabulary.com list that is due on Monday, September 26th. It will close on Monday morning. Read silently. You may choose a book from the shelf, but please return it. Continue taking notes on your chosen book. Everyone should be occupied. An idle mind is Negativity’s workshop! Keep in mind: If I don’t see you working that leads me to believe that you are satisfied with your progress in this class and I should have no need to sympathize with your whining or requests when grades are due. You are responsible for you!
