2 Unit 15 Vocabulary Recluse – Someone who stays away from society and the company of others. Remorse – a feeling of regret and guilt. Futility – feeling of being ineffective; uselessness, helplessness. Candid – openly straightforward and direct without secretiveness. Vehement – full of emotion and strong feeling.

Myopic – cannot see objects clearly. Premature – uncommonly early or before the expected time. Heathen – without religion; uncivilized. Turbulent – characterized by unrest or disorder or insubordination. Tranquil – free from disturbance

Wheedle – influence or urge by gentle urging, caressing, or flattering. Veranda – a porch along the outside of a building. Reprimand – an act or expression of criticism and censure. Seep – pass gradually or leak or as if through small openings. Condone – excuse, overlook, or make allowances for.

Languid – lacking in vigor or vitality; slack or slow. Eviction – the removal of someone from a property, especially with the support of the law. Morose – sullen and ill-tempered; sulky. Wry – using or expressing dry, mocking, humor. Collateral – something pledged as security for repayment of a loan; to be forfeited in case in the event of a default.
