The Periodic Table By: Jenna

Introduction My Goal: My goal is to create a new and improved periodic Table that is more understanding for some people!!

Learning the Elements The Periodic table is a display of chemical Elements The sections of the periodic table are Alkali Metals, Alkali- earth metals, Transition Metals, Rare earths, Radioactive rare earths, other metals, semimetals, non metals, noble gases, and Hydrogen. If I could, I would name all the elements on this page, but there are 118 elements (already named on new Periodic table)

Facts about the elements:
The names for some of the elements honor famous scientist. EX: Einstinium (the symbol ES) was named to honor Albert Einsten. The only letter that does not appear on the table is J. The element sodium produces a explosion when added to water. Chlorine is a poisonous gas. When you add these elements together they create salt that is not poisonous and does not explode when added to water. Oceans have salt inside the water.

Facts: Facts about the elements continued…
The symbols for some elements are based on words from different languages from different countries. The Purpose of the Table The Periodic table was created by Dmitri Mendeleev in The purpose was to show the periodic trends in the properties of the elements. There are 118 element and room for new discovered elements, but for now ranging from Hydrogen 1 to ununoctium 118.

The Presentation of the Table
Facts: The Presentation of the Table The vertical rows in the Periodic table make up “families”- closely related and sharing the same chemical likes. Dmitri was smart and left gaps in the table for the elements that weren’t discovered. The elements are presented in atomic # form (1-118) which means- the table goes up b the number of protons an element has.

The New Periodic Table…

The idea of the Periodic Table and Process of Improving:
I first got the idea of doing the periodic table when I did my Science Fair. One of the magnets I tested was made out of Neodymium a element in the table. When I heard it was a element in the periodic Table, I did not know what the periodic table was? I felt like I needed to do deeper research. The process of improving. I knew I needed to improve because a lot of people in my class probably did not know what the periodic table was and how to read it so I knew I had to make a more understanding Table.

Improving Thing needed to be improved…
The squares were small and not that readable People got confused by the ordering of the squares The symbol’s threw people off There are other things needed to be improved
