Main Character is Nehemiah the Cupbearer of King Artaxerxes. Book covers 13 years, B.C. Nehemiah goes to Jerusalem 92 years after Zerubbabel’s return and 14 years after Ezra’s return. Reforms: Zerubbabel (Religious); Ezra (Moral/Ethical); Nehemiah (Civil) Nehemiah’s purpose is seen in fortifying Jerusalem in order to protect the faithful remnant inside and keep the heathen outside; also preserving a faithful people through whom the Redeemer would come (Gal. 3:16).
