9. Using asset data to deliver efficiencies
Clarity of ownership of assets delivers quick answers and reduces reputational damage (don’t take the blame for something that isn’t your fault!)
Allows more ‘right first time’ resolution through automating processes directly from asset data e.g. allowing street lighting electricians to turn up quickly to jobs with the correct stock
Data driven approach to asset management becomes possible as we layer our own inventory on top of other data

10. Next steps for Edinburgh
Rollout of new energy efficient lanterns on 64,000 columns over 30 months alongside investment in a Central Management System (CMS)
Use of the LoRaWAN network provided by the CMS to rollout further ‘smart infrastructure’ using ERDF funding:
Smart waste – litter bins and communal bins
Gully sensors
Air quality sensors
Integration to Confirm using IoT connector capability to raise defects and works orders
Progression of a business case to allow the consolidated monitoring of all assets and data in a City Operations Centre
