Rubric Examination As I read, highlight what you have in your essay right now. If you could fix one thing in your essay before you turn it in, what would it be?

Write in Vocab Section Parallel Structure: --a balance within a sentences of similar phrases that have the same grammatical structure. Parallelism improves writing style, and makes sentences easier to process.

What is wrong with these sentences? (write them down)
She likes cooking, jogging, and to read. The dog ran across the yard, jumped over the fence, and down the alley he sprinted. Mr. Killinger admires people with integrity and who have character.

Check your Essays: Are your sentences parallel?
Find where you list all of your interests. Do you have a sentence that has more than one interest listed? Is it parallel? If no, fix it. If you have no sentence with a list, make one that is parallel.

Example Explanation The car, a 1989 Toyota, was badly damaged.
Explained: “A 1989 Toyota” is the appositive because it is renaming, or describing, the car. It is also an appositive because if I took it out, the sentence would still make sense.
