Complete a credit check to show your completed credits and discuss what is left to meet graduation requirements. Complete a Junior Advisement Letter with your Senior Year and Post-High School Plan to be taken home and mailed home to parents. Review upcoming C3 Workshops Discuss any questions you have that involve senior year and life after MVHS.

5 YOU are responsible to schedule your own meeting. It is REQUIRED.

8 Start your post-high school research
Start your post-high school research! You should do this prior to your junior advisement meeting. Research careers and the degrees or certifications needed for different careers. Understand the difference between being able to get into a college and being able to AFFORD a college. Understand the difference between high school graduation requirements and post-secondary entrance requirements. Research scholarships and financial aid. PREPARE

Size, location, cost, majors, clubs/groups, etc. How do the BIG 3 affect my admissions? GPA, SAT/ACT, curriculum strength. Have I narrowed my list down to 5 – 7 schools? 1-2 Dream/Reach, 2-3 Moderate level, 2-3 Safety/Fall back. What am I looking for? Military What branch gives the best growth opportunity? Education opportunities? Best jobs in military and post-military career? PREPARE

10 PREPARE Plan a visit to tour campuses that are of interest.
Attend College/Career/Military fairs Attend College and Career Center workshops Meet with college/military representatives when they come to visit MVHS’ College and Career Center Calculate your 16 Core GPA (most colleges only consider academic courses) **Always contact the college to verify how they actually recalculate your GPA PREPARE

14 ACT/SAT Reminders Research to find out if you need the SAT II’s – Subject Tests. This will be based on how selective the college is (i.e. Ivy League) Use your free score reports to send scores to colleges. 15 Initial- Eligibility Clearinghouse
If you are planning on participating in intercollegiate athletics at an NCAA Division I or II institution you must register with the NCAA Initial-Eligibility Clearinghouse Access the registration materials by visiting the NCAA website When taking the SAT/ACT, enter 9999 for scores to be sent to NCAA

16 Schedule your JUNIOR ADVISEMENT ASAP
Come to your junior advisement meeting PREPARED!! Anticipate your senior schedule Do your Post- High School Research Follow the C3 on Twitter Register for the SAT/ACT Schedule a college visit (if you can) Students interested in playing college athletics must register with the NCAA Clearinghouse once your junior year courses & grades are available.
