Two vocabulary Words: Mitosis Interphase Monday January 23, 2017 Day 2
1. Please have these Items on your desk. Agenda Science Starters Sheet AR Book Two vocabulary Words: Mitosis Interphase Science Notebook Monday January 23, Day 2
2
Definitions Mitosis-The process of the cell nucleus dividing to form 2 identical cells. Interphase- First step in Mitosis/Meiosis. Chromosomes are extended and not visible. Chromosomes replicate. Centrioles replicate.
3
To do list . . . Finish notes on Mitosis
Work on Mitosis worksheet(HW if not completed in class)
4
Metaphase 2nd step in Mitosis
Chromatids (or pairs of chromosomes) attach to the spindle fibers. They line up in the middle. Centrioles Spindle fibers
5
Metaphase Plant Cell Animal Cell

6
Anaphase 3rd step in Mitosis
Chromatids (or pairs of chromosomes) separate and begin to move to opposite ends of the cell. Centrioles Spindle fibers
7
Anaphase Plant Cell Animal Cell

8
Telophase 4th step in Mitosis
Two new nuclei form. Chromosomes appear as chromatin (threads rather than rods). Mitosis ends. Cleaving begins. Nuclei Nuclei Chromatin
9
Telophase Plant Cell Animal Cell

10
Cytokinesis-occurs after mitosis
Cell membrane moves inward to create two daughter cells each with its own nucleus with identical chromosomes.
