Changes in Jobs The war created many jobs
Pay was not enough to cover food and housing costs Over 6,000 strikes during the war months Wilson established the National War Labor Board to deal with disputes between management and labor.

Social Changes Anti-Immigrant Hysteria- Against Germans and Austria-Hungary Espionage and Sedition Acts- a person could receive up to a $10,000 fine and be sentenced to 20 years in jail for interfering with war efforts. 2,000 prosecutions 1,000 convictions.

Women still did not receive equal pay. 1919 Congress finally passed the 19th Amendment allowing women to vote.
