Key Lock Box – The lock box works in securing a key outside of the residents so that only authorised individuals can get to the key. Never hide akey outside unsecured. Children with keys is a bad idea because they loss the keys

Secure doors so they cannot be lifted out of the track from the outside.
Install pan head screws in the upper track, adjust to allow free back and forth movement but minimum up and down.
Secure doors with commercially available locks or use a broomstick or wooden dowel in the lower track.

10. Garage Doors Remove the emergency pull cord.
Securely mount the garage door track to your house.
Install a padlock in the track when your going to be gone for extended lengths of time.
Never leave your garage door remote in plain view.
Garage doors – The track is attached to the wall of the garage by usually a 1x4 board. Criminals can push on a corner of the garage door and if this board is nailed to the wall, criminals can pry that board from the wall. Screws in that board will sometimes correct this problem.

Criminals use the darkness to conceal their crimes. Adequate lighting not only provides safety for your family, but also discourages crime.

You should have at least one light on a timer to give the impression someone is home
Motion Lights – Criminals hate them because they don’t know where the lights are until the lights have activated. They don’t know is someone turned the light on or is it is a motion light. Lastly they don’t know who is looking now that the light is on.
Timers – Some Televisions can be placed on timers. Radios on timers.
