2 Scientific Method Video
In this task students will watch a video on the Scientific Method and answer quiz questions. SUBSTITUTION Technology acts a direct substitute, with no functional improvement Students will log into Blackboard. Students will watch the EDpuzzle video “Steps of the Scientific Method” and answer questions on loose-leaf paper. This task uses: Internet-connected device Blackboard Video from EDpuzzle Learning Objective(s): The student will plan and record step-by-step procedures for a valid investigation, select equipment and materials, and identify variables and controls. (SI-H-A2) TEACHER NOTES: Teacher’s name/ School: Sulphur High Louisiana State Standard: SI-H-A2 Grade Level/Subject: 10th/Biology Special Directions/Considerations: EdPuzzle Link (teacher will need to obtain the video from youtube prior to using with students. This has to be done from home and can be down using a Youtube converter such as “ss”. Activity Evaluation: Teacher will monitor student progress Prerequisites for students: Knowledge of the Scientific Method

3 Scientific Method Kahoot
In this task students will answer quiz questions about the Scientific Method on Kahoot. AUGMENTATION Technology acts as a direct tool for substitution with some functional improvement. Log into kahoot.it on your laptop. Enter game pin from board 3. Play Kahoot! to review steps of the scientific method.   This task uses: Laptops Kahoot! Learning Objective(s): The student will use technology when appropriate to enhance laboratory investigations and presentations of findings. 4 significant task redesign.
M Experiment Students will perform the Radish Seed Experiment and document each step using their iPad cameras. Students will create a PowerPoint to present their results. MODIFICATION Technology allows for significant task redesign. Check out an iPad. Take notes on your prelab discussion handout on the Radish Seed Experiment. As you perform your experiment, take pictures of each step. Complete experiment. Record and analyze data. Create a PowerPoint presentation to display your results. Use at least five pictures and five slides. Save and to me at This task uses: Internet-connected device, iPad or digital cameras PowerPoint Learning Objective(s): The student will conduct an investigation that includes multiple trials and record, organize, and display data appropriately. 5 Designing a Persuasive Commercial
In this task students will design an experiment and make a persuasive commercial promoting their design. Students will review their classmates commercials and choose the most persuasive one to be performed in the lab. REDEFINITION Technology allows for the creation of new tasks that were previously not conceivable. You will now design an experiment choosing another variable that you think will increase radish seed growth, for example, apple juice, sugar water, etc. Write up your idea as a thirty second persuasive commercial selling your idea. Post to the Blackboard Discussion Radish Seed Lab. Watch at least three classmates commercials and chose the one that you think is the most persuasive and worth trying in class. The one with the most votes will be carried out in class. This task uses: iPads Blackboard Learning Objective(s): The student will conduct an investigation that includes multiple trials and record, organize, and display data appropriately. (SI-H-A2) The student will conduct an investigation that includes multiple trials and record, organize, and display data appropriately. (SI-H-A2) The student will use technology when appropriate to enhance laboratory investigations and presentations of findings. (SI-H-A3) TEACHER NOTES: Teacher’s name/ School: Sulphur High Louisiana State Standard: SI-H-A2 Grade Level/Subject: 10th/Biology Special Directions/Considerations: In order to have students post to the Discussion board, the teacher must have successfully completed BB201 and must have enrolled students into the class Blackboard site. Activity Evaluation: Students discussion board postings will be assessed for accuracy. Prerequisites for students: Knowledge of the Scientific Method
