Brief historical background
February th Oslo Group meeting the provisional draft of IRES was discussed and comments were include for the provisional draft of IRES for the worldwide consultation July-August 2010 – 2nd stage Worldwide consultation November 2010 – 2nd Expert Group meeting on energy statistics January 2011 – Submission of IRES to the UN Statistical Commission

Report to the UN Stat. Comm.
It described the process and activities that lead to IRES It emphasized the key elements of IRES It outlines UNSD future activities in energy statistics It submitted IRES for review and adoption

The UN Statistical Commission:
• Noted that the work carried out on IRES illustrates effective cooperation among agencies, experts groups and countries • Adopted IRES • Endorsed the main elements of the implementation programme • Requested that the guidelines on data sources applicable to a wide range of countries be considered in the ESCM
