4 Other Types The tidal volume is the amount of air inhaled or exhaled during normal, quiet breathing. The inspiratory reserve volume is the amount of air that can be forcefully inhaled after normal inhalation. The expiratory reserve volume is the amount of air that can be forcibly exhaled after normal exhalation.
