6 What do umpires Need from the UM at a tournament ?
They want to be part of a team. The UM should also be part of the same team. The UM should build the team and keep it together. A good, happy team will show on the pitch. UM Presentation – Doing it well

7 What do umpires Need from the UM at a tournament ?
The umpire needs the UM to be on his/her side after the game. They do not need to be told what they did wrong when they are walking off the pitch. They do not want you to be talking about them to any other umpire. You should not be talking about forthcoming appointments in the tournament. UM Presentation – Doing it well

8 What do umpires Need from the UM at a tournament?
They need to be de-briefed. They need to be given positive feedback. They need to be given objective guidance on areas they need to work on. Your job as an UM is not just for this tournament. The umpire has a lot to offer hockey. If they aren’t doing too well at this tournament, it doesn’t mean they can’t or won’t at another. UM Presentation – Doing it well
