3. Project Description
Improve the National Statistical System(NSS) of Sri Lanka to contribute effectively to the development of the country.
The system currently existing caters the government and other development partners in their data needs for development plans
The quality frame work, co-ordination with other agencies, avoiding duplication of compiling, improve the official statistics programme and implementation of a new statistical act.

5. The review tool Purpose? How it going to be used?
Policy makers, citizens, and the international community use data for results-based management, better governance, evidence-based decision making
The Need to build the confidence and awareness by improving the quality of data, the relevance, importance and timeliness of statistics to above task
How it going to be used?
The concerns of other external stake holders will be obtained by the tool
Hope to get ways and means for the Improvements in the current NSS

Proposed activities to be completed in time
Inclusion of higher ranking officers from the Ministry and other decision makers in the external team
Effective official statistics programme with the participation of the stakeholders
Maximum use of administrative data for compiling statistics by including the participation of important Ministries
