1. 5 minutes
TWO GROUP TASKS:
Group 1: You will be provided with a sheet of paper with 64 squares on it – glue this in your sketchbook.
Group 2: Equip yourselves with a MacBook laptop or work on an iMac – log on and load up Adobe Illustrator. Then, go to the VLE and find the link on the Yr9 GC page to the YouTube tutorial video to watch and follow.

2. You will… Learning Objectives (Group 1)
Learn how to produce a variety of typeface styles of 1 letter.
Learn to control graphic media to produce effective typefaces.
Review the success of your own and each other’s work.
(Group 2)
Learn how to use Adobe Illustrator to produce a computerised typographical word.
Learn some of the tools and techniques on Illustrator.

3. 2 minutes
The best way to produce a range of fonts is to look them up on your phone and copy them.

4. GROUP 1 GROUP 2 Produce 64 different fonts using the same letter

GROUP 2
Follow the online tutorial and produce your own digital word (could be your name). Screen shot your development.

5. PREP.WORK Group 1: Complete your 64 fonts
Group 2: Finish your Illustrator piece, document your screen shots, final example and evaluate it.

6. 5 minutes
Group 1: Discuss the fonts your have done so far with a peer and share ideas on improvements and alternatives to help with your prepwork.
Group 2: Evaluate the Illustrator piece you have made on a piece of scrap paper to write up for your prepwork.
