2 Key demographics in Redcar & Cleveland
There are 27,318 children and young people in the borough. This equates to 20.2% of the population 3% of children and young people are from a minority ethnic background compared to 21% in the country overall. 781 pupils have an EHCP or statement. This equates to 3.5% of all pupils compared to 2.8% nationally. 25.4% of children live in low income families compared to 18.6% nationally Redcar & Cleveland is ranked the 49th most deprived areas out of 326 local authority areas 22% of neighbourhoods are in the 10% most deprived in the country

Background The 1989 CA mandates that support for UASC is the responsibility of local authority social care As at June 2015 the numbers of UASC who applied for asylum was 3,043 National Transfer Scheme 2016 the Home Office launched voluntary arrangements between local authorities for the resettlement of UASC to be distributed evenly North East Migration Partnership Strategic directions Provide data, policy and research information Guidance and support on migration issues Elected Members Strong appetite to support the resettlement Regular member briefing updates Active involvement and knowledge through training events 23/02/2019 This is Redcar & Cleveland
