Target: I will be able to distinguish between primary & secondary sex characteristics and identify/describe the organs in the male reproductive system.
Puberty: a time in life when one becomes sexually mature.

4. Primary Sex Characteristics: physical characteristics directly involved in reproduction
Males: testicles and sperm and Females: Ovum and ovaries
Secondary Sex Characteristics: features that appear during puberty
Body hair, muscles develop, breasts develop (female), vocal cords thicken (male), and genitals mature

6. Testosterone: a sex hormone produced by the testes in males (and ovaries in females) which stimulates the development of secondary sex characteristics

Testes (Testicles): small glands that produce sperm (100 million/day)
Hang in a protective sac called the scrotum which keeps the sperm below body temperature.

At the climax of sexual arousal an ejaculation may occur
If physically mature the semen ejaculate will contain sperm: male sex cell
Semen: The fluid produced by the seminal vesicle which contains sperm

12. Epididymis: coiled tubes located on the top of the testes and temporary storage (1 month) for sperm
The sperm travels the entire 20 foot length of the epididymis in 2 weeks; during this time it matures.
