3 How did you know where to place ¼ and 23/5?
Jan. 20, 2015 How did you know where to place ¼ and 23/5? How did you order the negative numbers? How did you order the negative non- integers?

4 Objective(s): SWBAT: Jan. 20, 2015
Write, interpret, and explain statements of order for rational numbers in the real world. (6.NS.C.6c), (6.NS.C.7 stem)

5 Create your own examples
Jan. 20, 2015 Exercise 1 Create your own examples Given four small slips of paper, independently choose four non-integer rational numbers and write them one per paper. At least 2 must be negative. Order the rational numbers from least to greatest. Raise your hand when done.

6 Jan. 20, 2015 Example 1 pg. 28 How would the order change if you were asked to write the numbers from greatest to least?

7 With your partner, complete exercises 2-4 on pages 28-29

8 Jan. 20, 2015 How do you feel? topic.

9 Jan. 20, 2015 With your partner read example 2 (pg. 29) and circle any words that might be important to solve the problem. 200, , Explain the process you used to determine the order of the numbers.

10 Work independently to answer exercises 5-6 on page 29
Jan. 20, 2015 Work independently to answer exercises 5-6 on page 29 Closing If three numbers are ordered from least to greatest and the order is a, b, c, what would the order be if the same three numbers were arranged in order greatest to least? How did you determine the new order? C, b, a It has to be exactly the opposite order since we are now moving right to left on the number line rather than left to right. How does graphing numbers on a number line help us to determine the order when arranging the numbers? Using a number line helps u order numbers because when numbers are placed on a number line they are placed in order.
