Tips for Formatting Your Slides
Generally only use one graph, chart or visual per slide Words on the slide should summarize the main idea of that slide – it’s ok to repeat it verbally as well Minimize use of animation, a little goes a long way Don’t try to incorporate video or audio clips – technical difficulties will throw off your timing Remember to cite any visuals (graph, chart or image). This can be done on the slide and also in your list of works cited at the end

Tips for Your Presentation
Clearly identify your research question and solution Explain the context of your research question and connect it to the stimulus materials Discuss other perspectives, other possible solutions and limitations of your solution Have a specific purpose to each slide (it’s not just background; it needs to be part of your presentation) Rehearse. A LOT. With a timer. (6-8 minutes) Cite your sources in your presentation (this is something that could be written on note cards—names and numbers are hard to remember) Include a works/images cited slide at the end Be prepared for the Oral Defense questions
