Word Study To best meet the needs of each child, we switch classes for Word Study. New words will be given on Wednesdays and the sort will be copied in students’ Word Study notebooks. Homework Boards can be found in the clear sleeve of your child’s red folder. Please look at each day at the top of the sheet for nightly homework. Choice Board/Parent Initials Tests will be given on Tuesdays. This will consist of sorting the words and writing dictation sentences.

Please pack your child a nut-free snack. I have limited extra snacks, so please remember to pack one for your child. These are not taught concurrently. Science Social Studies Geography Economics Mali, Greece, & Rome Famous Americans European Explorers Diversity Civics and Government Scientific method Animals Simple Machines Soil Matter Natural Event Cycles Notes can be found in students’ interactive notebooks!

2:35-2:40: Dismissal Procedures
Homework Your child can expect to have homework assigned almost every night (Monday-Thursday). Homework is given to reinforce and practice what was taught during the day. Please check your child’s agenda to keep them accountable. Reading 20 min. daily

Grading System A= Excellent B = 80-89 Very Good C = 70-79 Satisfactory D = 65-69 Low Performing F = Below 65 Failure Tests count for 200 points Classwork/Projects/Quizzes count for 100 points Names on papers Skipped questions Basic writing errors (punctuation, capitalization, etc.)

Parent Portal Grades will be posted every 2 weeks beginning with the 4th week of the school year (this Monday) Please plan on checking your child’s grades on Parent Portal once every two weeks. This year, all interim grades will be provided electronically. If there is a problem with this, please see me at the end of this session. If you have not made an account in Parental Portal, you can find the directions on the Jackson Davis website under Parent Portal. I also have some printed copies for you at the back table if you need them.
