Different Settings In Coding
There are 3 different code settings ICD-9-CM CPT HCPCs These different codes are used for different things ICD-9-CM is used for coding and classifying morbidity data, diseases that’s gathered from inpatient and outpatient records, doctors offices and national center for health statistics through surveys

This is the official system for assigning codes that’s affiliated with hospitals
Citation: National Institutes of Health (.gov) CPt Codes thoroughly describes medical, diagnostic services, and surgical services. It allows doctors worldwide and other providers, third parties payers and patients Citation:

Two Levels To hcpcs Level 1:
CPT4 – a numeric coding system that identifies used to identify medical and procedural services given by doctors and other healthcare givers Providers give these codes for billing public and private insurance programs It doesn’t include codes that are needed to individually report medical items or services that are billed by suppliers outside of the doctor Citation: CMS.gov

The benefits of correct coding are payments being processed in a timely manner and to avoid patients being billed and not having to contact places where they were services because of miscoding The right code is imperative for all concerned from the hospital, doctors offices, clinic, patient and insurance company so all will be billed and paid promptly and properly Administrative and oversight involves improving healthcare, facilities, as well as staffing. As a coder to improve my job and to be more accurate I’ll ask questions whenever needed to insure the job is done correctly
6
The most important of my job at XYZ Healthcare is following directions, being on time, and being a problem solver Other departments count on correct coding If codes are off you don’t get paid Medical billing and coding process includes steps in storing memory for codes in ordering and pricing information of products according to each code Citation: (Appl. No:14/ Appl. Field July Issue 6)

Rumpakis, J (January 2015) says now that surgical procedures are more common in other medical practices Medical coding and compliance have become more of a concern From a medical standpoint major and minor procedures require a separate surgical report There is much more to be aware of when coding to insure on time payments for all
