What is it? It is the branch of medicine concerned with the care, development, and diseases of newborn infants.

Jobs: Neonatologist- Diagnose and treat newborns with conditions such as breathing disorders, and birth defects. They coordinate care and medically manage premature newborns. Neonatal Nurse- Works directly with the babies, give medication, and are able to do IV’s. Pediatric Resident- Coordinates the care of multiple patients.

Salaries: Neonatologist- Ranges anywhere from $160,000 to $480,000
Neonatal Nurse- around $89,960 Pediatric Resident- around $57,529

Education Neonatologist- 4 years of college. 4 years of medical school, 3 years of a pediatric residency, and 3 years of neonatology fellowship Neonatal Nurse- 4 years of college to get a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, and then you have to be certified in Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing.
