Subject questions: When the question word is the subject of the sentence.

Object questions: When the question word refers to the object of the sentence.

4. Prepositions in questions
When a question word is the object of a preposition, the preposition usually comes at the end of the clause, especially in an informal style. That is why we often put a preposition at the end of a question.
Who are you talking to?
What are you looking at?
Short Questions: common in conversation.
I’m going out. Where to? Who with?
I didn’t go to the party. How come?
I need a paintbrush. What for?

8. Indirect questions Yes/No Questions: we use if. D: Do you like pizza?
I: Can I ask you IF YOU LIKE PIZZA?
D: Is Mary single?
I: Do you know IF MARY IS SINGLE?
ONLY USE QUESTION MARK IF THE OPENING PHRASE CONTAINS A QUESTION:
I was wondering if I could borrow your car.
I would like to know if I passed the exam.
