1 8-10 April 2014 CFS-ADI Joint Meeting
Interaction Region Solutions Hybrid Detector Hall Access impact on Overall Construction schedule Yoshinobu NISHIMOTO 8-10 April CFS-ADI Joint Meeting

2 Back ground in latest Hybrid study
Results of first step study HT, VS, Hybrid Construction cost Shaft construction and Lowering System are expensive But mechanical facility cost of shaft case is inexpensive than tunnel case Construction period Shorter in shaft case because, smaller section tunnel and smaller D/H. Comments, pros and cons from Detector team Both of shaft and tunnel access will be better. Shaft access is easy to install in ILD case similar to CMS Risks in Hybrid case, geology, wider surface ground , larger buildings , is it practical ? Next study “Current study” Hybrid option Hybrid-A : base case of Hybrid Both detectors installed through VS Hybrid-B ILD-VS and SiD-HT There are a shaft and a tunnel in Hybrid case, use them each other in ILD and SiD. Hybrid-C Both detectors installed through HT Just adding UT shaft to HT case Shaft access available, and mechanical facility cost will be reduced. There are no conclusive different in both case 8-10 April CFS-ADI Joint Meeting

4 Baseline General layout
Tunnel access for D/H Considering minimize of construction cost, total tunnel length shorter. Main A/T divides into Upper A/T and Lower A/T. D/R A/T Lower A/T Upper A/T Main A/T 8-10 April CFS-ADI Joint Meeting

6 Installation depth of D/H in case of Hybrid case
P wave velocity (m/s) Ground surface Soil or weathered rock thickness ~50m Minimum hard rock coverage ~40m equivalent to cavern height Hard rock Geological condition is not certain at the D/H place in case of Hybrid case. Assume the condition from borehole investigation result implemented near place. Soil or weathered weak rock : 50m D/H Top : EL.140m D/H Bottm : EL. 98m 2/23/2019

7 Hybrid Case Common layout
Access tunnel arrangement 2 hear-pin curves , because 3 points (portal, upper connection, lower connection) are near. Keep sufficient separation distance from B/T, D/H, D/R. Min. radius is 50m transporter vehicle. Gradient Hybrid A,C 7% and adding 10% level part Hybrid B 10% and adding 10% level part Ground forming “Just trial study” Two elevation along the slope EL. 190m and 220m Each land area : more than 20,000m2 Near the existing road 20,000m2 34,000m2 8-10 April CFS-ADI Joint Meeting
