Jesus in teaching us to pray begins by directing our minds to our heavenly Father
The Scriptures often use the word “Father” when referring the first person of the Godhead

We can only “see” God as He is revealed in His Word
We cannot fully understand God for He is infinite
But in the figure of “Father” we can understand His nature

4. In What Sense Is God Our Father?
He is the Father of all mankind because He is the creator of all mankind

But the use of “Father” in the N.T. emphasizes a spiritual relationship between God and His people

The church today is God’s family – His sons and daughters

We belong to a spiritual family over which God is Father and in which we are all brethren

15. Conclusion
If we do not make Him our Father now as we live in this life, He will never be our Father
If we obey Him now and continue faithful – He will lead us through this life, through death and into eternal glory in heaven
