Figure 1 | Potential strategy for belatacept-based immunosuppression in de novo kidney transplant recipients. a | De novo belatacept therapy is associated with an increased incidence of early post-transplantation, low-grade acute rejection. b | An alternative strategy that could potentially avoid early episodes of acute rejection is to use standard tacrolimus-based therapy for the first 3 months post-transplantation and then gradually introduce belatacept and everolimus while weaning off tacrolimus and mycophenolate mofetil, respectively.
