3 Banking Time Rationale
Attachment Disturbance—an over-drafted bank account all relationships have an emotional bank account this account influences the quality of the interactions between two individuals positive experiences serve as emotional deposits, where as negative or stressful experiences serve as withdrawals the normal day-to-day interactions between parents and children are usually sufficient for maintaining balance between deposits and withdrawals however, in some instances difficulties arise (family stress, parents stress, child temperament issues, etc.) that lead to an imbalance favoring withdrawals this leads to a stressed relationship or an attachment wound consequently, children become angry and defiant toward what they perceive a threat to the attachment relationship this frequently angers the parent, leading to more stressful parent-child interactions, thus completing a vicious cycle banking time is a method for repairing wound and restoring the relationship balance This will increase child compliance and cooperation
