Team Management in High Stakes Projects
2
The Team Management Profile
The Team Management Profile is a psychometric tool (measuring things like aptitude and personality) that has been used in personal and team development for over two decades. 60 questions explore how an individual at work prefers to: Relate to others. Gather and use information. Make decisions. Organize themselves and others. From there, a profile is built that highlights a person's role preferences. Margerison-McCann Team Management Systems – Globally Popular in Leadership Selection
3
Margerison and McCann identified eight role preferences, and developed the Team Management Wheel shown to describe them. Central Role = PM, though everyone is responsible

Knowing the good/not so good aspects of self & others enables you to manage more effectively
“It is the range and the quality of your ideas, and your openness to discussion that provides the great strength of your leadership of others.” “When you have a good idea that links to your beliefs and values, you feel action must be taken. When obstacles are put in your way, you can become, not only annoyed, but react strongly.”

It Asks: What Energy Do You Lead With?
8
Homework Using the descriptive insights of tools we have discussed (and obviously not taking any formal evaluation) briefly describe yourself as a Project Manager. Example: I am a _________Project Manager who enjoys the _______role. The energy I use to lead others is best described as ____________________. Feel free to use your own words, with the ideas presented here as a guide.
