The Subcommittee administers the Conference Awards for Scientists for the annual ISCB meeting

Being affiliated to the academic community all members have a hectic life imposed by their status - almost regularly deliver lectures, organize workshops and conferences at local and national levels
RNG Life Short Summary
Short meetings with the local coordinators are held almost each month, and at local level discussions take place whenever needed.

7. 2018 ISCB Conference Awards for Scientists Report by Zdeněk Valenta
Applicants
The NG SC received a total of 14 eligible applications for the Conference Awards for Scientists (CASc), up from 5 applications last year and 10 in A nice geographic diversity was achieved this year
The applicants represented 11 countries of Cameroon (1), Kenya (1), India (1), Nigeria (2), South Africa (1), Bangladesh (3), Czech Republic (1), Lebanon (1), China (1), Turkey (1) and Costa Rica (1)
The SC appears to be moving in the right direction by attracting the applications from largely non-EU countries
Winners
The NG SC decided to grant three ISCB CASc awards in 2018
The highest score earned the submission by Marek Brabec from the Czech Republic. His winning contribution was entitled ‘Semiparametric model for short term effects of air pollution upon asthma symptoms exacerbations’ and earned 43 points out of 50 possible
The second winning application by Anower Hossain from Bangladesh was entitled ‘Analysing time to event outcomes in cluster randomised trials using cluster-level analysis methods’ and earned 40 points
A third winning application was submitted by Samer A. Kharroubi from Lebanon. It was entitled ‘Bayesian nonparametric estimation of HRQoL from preference data, and a new utility measure for Two Condition-Specific Measures (Asthma and Overactive Bladder)’ and earned 39 points
